PROGRESS
P1- Proposal
After several discussions, we finalized our main concept: the Chinese calendar. To explore different creative directions, I suggested integrating the Chinese Calendar with Textile Craftsmanship, blending tradition with artistry. To structure my research, I created a mind map to clarify key areas to focus.

P2- Field Study
For Task 2, my group leader assigned me to conduct an online research study on Penang. To ensure a clear direction, I first listed key categories to focus on before diving into research.

We also had a one-day Melaka field trip, which allowed us to see traditional elements firsthand. We need to take pictures during our trip.
P3- Final Project & Portfolio

Min Mah and I discussed the illustrations for each day first, researching festivals, heritage, landscapes, and more to ensure our designs were meaningful.
For the calendar, I worked on the even-numbered dates and also designed the monthly spreadsheet.

After we all completed the illustrations, Min Mah finished up all the writing and layout of each spreadsheet.
While Min Mah was doing the writing, my main responsibility was developing the content for our TikTok videos, including writing the script. I also helped with voiceovers and assisted my groupmates whenever needed to ensure everything ran smoothly.

FEEDBACK
- WEEK 1 -
In the first Intercultural Design class, Mr. Asrizal introduced the
module structure, briefed us on our tasks, and clarified the
expectations, assessment methods, and documentation process. All
three projects in this course are group-based.
- WEEK 2 -
This week, our group selected a topic that we are interested. We created a brief mind map outlining our initial ideas and submitted it to Mr. Charles and Mr. Asrizal for feedback. They approved our idea. Moving forward, we further develop our ideas, expand on the mind map, and start planning the details of our project.- WEEK 3 -
This week is submission week. During the lecture session, we had a short consultation with Mr. Charles, and he encouraged us to move on with the first idea.- WEEK 4 -
No class for this week. We are still working on the field trip study presentation slides.- WEEK 5 -
We had a one-day field trip to Melaka to do our data collection, and we continued to finish our presentation slides.- WEEK 6 -
No class for this week. We started working on task 3, drawing the calendar daily page.
- WEEK 7 -
No class for this week. This week we focus on our Tiktok video, the presentation slides and the final refine.
REFLECTIONS
This project has been an incredibly rewarding journey, from brainstorming Everyday designs to redesigning the Chinese traditional calendar and launching our TikTok page.
During the proposal stage, I did deep research and we refined our concept to ensure the calendar was both visually appealing and culturally meaningful. The method study was a valuable learning experience, I gained new knowledge and insights through online research on Penang, and the Melaka field trip was especially eye-opening, allowing me to see traditional elements firsthand.
In the final part, we put in a lot of effort, it was both fun and challenging. We spent countless hours designing each page with great attention to detail, making sure every illustration reflected our vision. Managing our TikTok page required careful planning, as we wanted to present our work in an engaging and meaningful way.
Through this project, I finally realized how much design influences our daily lives. Everything we see—whether a calendar, signage, or social media content, they shapes our experiences and connections to culture.
